• Defective temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) in refrigerator or freezer compartment
• Loose or corroded electrical connector between sensor and control board
• Damaged wiring harness connecting temperature sensors to main control module
• Faulty main control board or processor unable to read sensor signals
• Water or moisture damage affecting sensor circuits due to condensation issues
• Power supply voltage instability from household 120V electrical circuit
• Failed sensor calibration after power surge or electrical disruption
• Control board firmware error requiring reset

• Check your home's circuit breaker panel and ensure the refrigerator circuit breaker is in the ON position; if tripped, switch OFF then back ON
• Unplug the refrigerator from the wall outlet and wait 60 seconds, then plug back in to reset the control board
• Verify the refrigerator doors are closing fully and sealing properly by checking gasket integrity and door alignment
• Ensure air vents inside and behind the refrigerator are not blocked by food items, packaging, or ice buildup
• Confirm temperature settings are appropriate (typically 37-40°F for refrigerator, 0°F for freezer) and adjust if needed
• Clean the condenser coils located at the base or rear of the unit using a soft brush or vacuum with brush attachment to improve airflow
• Check that the refrigerator is level and not tilted, as improper positioning affects cooling distribution
• Verify adequate clearance (at least 2-3 inches) around the back and sides of the unit for proper ventilation
• Inspect the power cord for visible damage, kinks, or exposed wires
• Test if error code clears after performing the reset procedure; if F9 persists, contact Miele service
